Pain is not something that needs to be patched up, locked up, and hidden. It needs to be picked at like a scab with the hard end of your nail. Get through the tough shell until you can see the ripe, pink skin. A little blood pours out, just wipe it away. Now you can let it heal.

Pain only does it’s healing when we reflect on our pain. Shutting it off, bottling it up, running away from it does not make it go away. That piercing pain you feel on your upper back, below your shoulder, that’s just one knot out of the many knots your body is forming trying to shut itself up thinking it won’t shake. Don’t shut yourself up, speak to yourself.
