The past for us tends to be very powerful and sometimes the determining factor in our decisions. Of course it is our past that provided us growth in more ways than one and the experiences from it are what guide us in our present and in how we view our future. But it is our choice on how we choose to view our past and use it, either towards our advantage or at our loss. We can choose to use our past to help guide us while simultaneously not let it define us. The past is a continuity and it is not definite. Sometimes what happens is we take the deepest and darkest secrets of our past and let that define us but we have a choice to let those dark times only remind us of how we overcame it all. We should catch ourselves from falling victim to an insignificant concept as our past and not have it define who we are especially if it means to become our own worst enemy. Who you were, who you are, and who you will be can always change. Do yourself a favor; choose yourself but don’t lose yourself.
Our roots are where we come from.
Our ground is where we formidably stand.
We build ourselves on the fresh soil of our past.
Crushing it till it’s no longer visible and still its elements are felt.
